Curaçao's government has hired Fugro to map its seabed for future development of floating offshore wind farms.

The government’s target is 6GW by 2035, which it says will more than cover its domestic energy needs, thereby enabling the production and export of green hydrogen. Previously, Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) carried out a feasibility assessment that concluded Curaçao’s territorial waters have great potential for sustainable energy from solar and wind.

The vessel Fugro Brasilis will conduct the survey, which will be used to create a comprehensive report on local conditions.
