Boskalis has announced a contract for Moray West, where monopile installation is among the activities. This was previously known to have been awarded to DEME.

In December last year DEME announced a foundation installation contract for Moray West. The installation work was due to be executed by the heavy lift vessel Orion for monopile installation and the jack up vessel Apollo for transition piece installation. Yet, it now looks like Boskalis’ own heavy lift vessel Bokalift 2 will be installing the monopiles on the project.
Comparing the contract description both for DEME and Boskalis indicates a similar scope. One could speculate that DEME is no longer part of this contract. However, Boskalis has not mentioned the full extent of the transition piece installation, which still could be performed by Apollo. Furthermore, we cannot exclude the possibility that project engineering could still be done by DEME given the company’s expertise in the field and ties to the project.
