After a one-year delay and many challenges, the Taiwanese offshore wind project “Formosa 2” has finally completed installation of wind turbines.
The turbine installation contract was initially awarded to Seajacks’ Scylla in July 2019, but Seajacks decided to terminate the contract when it became clear that the project had to be postponed by one year due to weak structural integrity in several jackets. This forced Seajacks to find work elsewhere. Now two years, the last turbine have been installed by Bold Tern.
The project has involved several installation vessels, including Seaway Yudin for pin piling and jacket installation; Bokalift 1 assisted with jacket installation; and Brave Tern and Bold Tern have both been involved in turbine installation.
