Foundation and turbine installation at Toyama Nyuzen offshore wind farm is soon to begin as Blue Wind is transiting to the marshalling port.

The Japanese offshore wind market is progressing well as another project in the country is about to begin offshore installation. Last year it was all about Akita Noshiro Ports offshore wind project getting finished and commissioned. This year it is all about Shimizu’s top tier jack up vessel Blue Wind. The Toyama Nyuzen project will consist of 3 monopiles with TP cages and 3 MySE3.0-135 turbines, which should be straightforward for the vessel to install. However, considering this is Shimizu’s first installation work with its own vessel, it is likely that the majority of the crew is relatively inexperienced with a few more experienced crew members related to the Fred Olsen Windcarrier outfit. This will be a good first project to gain experience for the crew on Blue Wind. The offshore construction is estimated to take place from April to May before the vessel will embark on a new project in Japan.
