Ørsted’s German North Sea offshore wind projects Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 are about to kick off foundation installation

Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 are the last two projects of the 2018 German auction round to commence offshore installation of monopiles and turbines. The other projects in this round are Arcadis Ost 1, Baltic Eagle and Kaskasi, which are either finished or well underway with installation. As for the two last projects, Jan De Nul’s newly delivered heavy lift vessel will soon begin installing the monopile foundations from the port of Eemshaven. Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 combined have 106 monopile foundations and the project does not pose any extraordinary features like what have been seen in some of the other projects from the same auction round. Les Alizés will be well equipped to install the 1200 tonnes monopile from Steelwind and carry several of them in each cycle.
