Blue Wind is back in Taiwan, which means turbine installation at the Hai Long offshore wind farm will soon commence.
Taiwan is becoming increasingly busy with offshore wind installations, as several vessels are currently operating across multiple wind farms. The latest vessel to join the action is Shimizu’s jack-up vessel, Blue Wind.
Blue Wind is contracted to install turbines at the Hai Long offshore wind farm, which is the largest project currently under construction in Taiwan in terms of capacity. The project has a total capacity of 1,044 MW.
The turbines Blue Wind will install are the Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 model, each with a capacity of 14 MW. The project will feature 73 of these turbines.
Green Jade, which is handling foundation installation for the project, is already well underway — with plenty of foundations now ready for Blue Wind to begin turbine installation. So far, the project has progressed smoothly, and the expectation is that it will continue to do so.
