Wind Peak will soon begin installing turbines at the Sofia offshore wind farm as the vessel heads to Port of Hull.

The Sofia offshore wind farm is progressing well, with Van Oord’s jack-up vessel, Aeolus, approaching one year of foundation installation on the project. Now, the project is ready for turbine installation, as Wind Peak is set to begin its first installation cycle, operating from the Port of Hull in the UK.

Wind Peak is one of Cadeler’s new jack-up vessels, delivered in August last year. Since its delivery, the vessel has been involved in maintenance work on various offshore wind farms across Europe. However, it is now set to undertake the task it was specifically built for—turbine installation.

The Sofia offshore wind farm is being developed by RWE and, once completed, will have a total capacity of 1.4 GW. The project will feature 100 Siemens Gamesa SG-14.0-222 turbines, each capable of generating 14 MW.
