Monopile installation is coming to an end for Ørsted’s German North Sea project, Borkum Riffgrund 3, marking a milestone for the project.

Since the end of June 2023, Jan de Nul’s heavy lift vessel Les Alizés and Jack-Up Barge B.V.’s JB 117 have worked hand in hand installing monopiles on Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3. They are now on the 106th monopile, wrapping up the installation process. This project was Les Alizés’ first task after leaving the yard, and the vessel performed well with the assistance of JB 117. Turbine installation is close behind, with only a few cycles left for Wind Osprey. Combined, Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 will have a total capacity of 1,166 MW, provided by 106 SG-11.0-200 Siemens Gamesa turbines.
