Estonia aims to kick off 2024 by picking winners for the two largest offshore wind projects in the Baltics.
The Estonian authorities announced the dates for the auction rounds for the sites Liivi 1 (up to 1525 MW) and Liivi 2 (up to 2150 MW) , both located in the Gulf of Riga. The areas will open for bids on January 11, and run until January 17, both hosting monetary auction rounds, where the bidders offering the highest price will take the win and secure the rights to the site. In total, seven bidders are qualified to bid into the rounds, including international developers like CIP/Ignitis, Mainstream and Vårgrønn/European Energy, in addition to several local Estonian developers.
