China:
Guohua Investment’s offshore wind project Peninsula South U2 Phase 2 has obtained investments required and is moving forward quickly with the project. The company is already well underway with the construction of the project’s first phase.
SPIC signed an investment agreement with the provincial government of Yantai for developing the offshore wind farm Peninsula South 5. The project will be built in two phases and will have a total capacity of 900MW.
South Korea:
Doosan Enerbility and Korea Midland Power have signed a memorandum of understanding, as this agreement is meant to create stronger cooperation between the two companies for developing offshore wind projects, boost domestic industry, and push for technology advancement for offshore turbines.
Japan:
- Toyama Nyuzen offshore wind farm is expected to be fully commissioned this September.
- Shimizu’s jack up vessel “Blue Wind” is still at the Ishikari Bay New Port project installing turbines.
- Penta Ocean’s new build jack up “CP-16001” has not yet left the yard in Batam, Indonesia.
Taiwan:
In Taiwan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) announced that five developers have signed their respective administrative contracts following the capacities allocated in the 3.1 auction round. Seven developers were initially qualified to sign contracts, meaning two have declined to move forward. Taiwanese authorities can now move onwards to the 3.2 round, as it could only progress once the 3.1 had been settled. (Credit: Kasper Grytnes)
