Turbine installation at the Jeonnam Sinnan Phase 1 has passed its halfway mark.
SK E&S and CIP’s South Korean project, Jeonnam Sinnan Phase 1, is showing good progress. The project consists of 10 turbines, each with a capacity of 10 MW, supplied by Siemens Gamesa. It is estimated that five turbines have been installed so far, and Hyundai Frontier is completing the installation of the sixth turbine.
Hyundai Frontier began installing the first turbine on the 27th of September, completing six turbines in seven weeks. This pace is commendable given the relative infancy of the South Korean offshore wind market. The installation process has been steady, with no major delays, and the vessel is installing one turbine per cycle.
At this rate, the project is on track to be completed before the new year.
