Statkraft expands their offshore wind portfolio, after acquiring ambitious Swedish offshore wind developer
Norwegian Statkraft has acquired Sweden based Njordr Offshore Wind AB, securing a portfolio of nine offshore wind projects, totaling 21 GW. Currently none of the projects have gained final approval from Swedish authorities, with most in a consultation stage. With the acquisition, Statkraft becomes one of the biggest offshore wind developers in Sweden, rivaling developers like Ørsted and RWE, in terms of total project capacity proposed. In addition to the newly acquired Swedish projects, Statkrafts offshore wind assets include the Irish projects Bore Array and North Irish Sea Array, with a total project capacity of 2.3 GW. CIP entered into a partnership with Statkraft at the start of 2023, securing a 50 % stake in the projects. The partnership submitted a successful bid in the Irish O-RESS 1 subsidy rounds, securing support contracts for the 500 MW Fixed North Irish Sea Array project.
