CIP secures offtake agreement for Dutch Zeevonk project, signs large scale PPA.

Google and CIP ( Copenhagen infrastructure Partners) have announced a 250 MW offshore wind PPA for the 2 GW Zeevonk IJmuiden Ver Beta project, awarded earlier this year to CIP and Vattenfall. The project, among the largest offshore wind projects in the Netherlands, is expected to start in-sea installation towards 2027/2028, and be operational by the end of 2029.

Why is this contract important? It secures the project with an offtake of power, and thereby revenue in a market with no subsidy support. Due to the lack of state granted subsidy scheme, the developers part of the winning bid are responsible to sign PPAs, or sell at merchant prices.  The PPA was agreed before the site was awarded to the consortia in June earlier this year, and is the first PPA announced for the project.
