Estonian authorities continue the push for offshore wind, opening up for three new projects
The Consumer Protection and Technical Supervision Agency (TTJA) has initiated building permit procedures for three offshore wind projects, located 35 km west off Saaremaa Island. The three applications are submitted by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Ignitis Renewables and Sunly Wind, with a combined total capacity of 2889 MW proposed. Final installed capacity and parameters of the facilities is dependent on EIA assessment and technical analyses.
Interested developers have 60 days to submit competing proposals for the areas, before the sites are put up for auction. If auctions of adjacent rounds are won by the same developer, it will be possible to merge the areas into one.
