Danish Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) looks to invest in Norwegian offshore wind project, as first auction in the country is soon to open
The field of players interested in participating in the coming Norwegian offshore wind auctions continues to grow, as CIP joins NorSea and Parkwind. The new partnership will be targeting the Utsira Nord site, where the Norwegian Government has proposed awarding a total of 1500 MW capacity for floating projects.
Norway is seeking to kick off the growth of the offshore wind industry in the country in Q1-Q2 2023, with the round drawing the attention of many of the industry’s largest developers, such as Shell, Vattenfall and RWE. On both sites in the auction round, Sørlige Nordsjø II and Utsira Nord, international developers have been teaming up with Norwegian partners, such as BP and Statkraft, and Shell and Lyse. To date, at least 13 interested consortia have hinted on their intention to partake in the round for Utsira Nord. With such a large field of top tier developers, we are definitely headed for a highly competitive auction round.
