The year finishes off strong for new cable contracts linked to offshore wind in the North Sea, with LS Cables & Systems picking up a new export cable contract with TenneT Offshore in Germany.
South Korean LS Cables & Systems has signed an agreement with TenneT Offshore, the German subsidiary of the Dutch state-owned TSO TenneT. LS Cables will supply the export cable for the LanWin 5 substation in the German section of the North Sea. The contract is expected to be a DC 525kV submarine and underground cable. The EnBW project Dreekant (N-12.3) is expected to be connected to the substation LanWin 5, with an operation date in 2031.
This is the third cable contract announced in the region in the last couple of weeks, after Iberdrola awarding cable contracts to Nexans for East Anglia Two in the UK and Luxcara announcing a preferred supplier agreement with Dutch TKF for subsea cables for the Waterkant project in Germany.
