Brazilian authorities publish new overview of offshore wind projects, revealing growing interest from Oil and Gas
The latest IBAMA update reveals TotalEnergies has submitted applications for four new offshore wind projects, with a total capacity of 12140 MW. The applications put TotalEnergies with a portfolio of seven projects under development in Brazil, at an impressive 21150 MW combined.
Brazilian authorities now have the largest pipeline of proposed projects in the world, equal 232200 MW, with proposals from major Oil and Gas operators in the country like Shell, Equinor and Petrobras. No projects have yet been approved, although authorities are looking into adopting legislation opening for auction rounds.
